Lakeside Decking only uses the best materials for your project

Built To Last

Helicals are like the stronger big brother of ground screws, and are used in projects that have a bit more weight, like pergolas, three-season porches, and more.

Imagine the largest screw you've ever seen, and that's basically what these are! Usually 6-8 feet long, these are driven into the ground and support your deck. At Lakeside Decking, we love using American Ground Screw.

Footings

Many people think of concrete when they hear "deck footing", but there are many products on the market that we feel are superior. The footings we use allow us to install year-round because they are slowly driven below the frost line, and are more durable and long-lasting in the long run. The specific type of footings we will use largely depends on the scope of your project and engineering requirements, so as the client you won't need to make any decisions in this department.

Composite framing is entirely made of synthetic materials, making it an eco-friendly alternative to lumber. It offers a lifetime warranty against splitting, rotting, and more, and comes in several different colors. Composite is a less expensive alternative framing option than steel or aluminum.

Option 4

If you trust TimberTech like we do and want a TimberTech deck from top to bottom, then aluminum framing is a great solution. Aluminum naturally does not rust, and has a beautiful modern aesthetic for those who desire it. It's similar in uniformity to steel.

Option 3

Timbertech aluminum framing

Steel framing offers exceptional strength and longevity since it won't warp, twist, or shrink. It's factory-made so the material is always flat and level, and its powder-coated and galvanized finish means it won't rust or rot. Additionally, steel can support longer spans, meaning fewer posts and more open space for you to enjoy! Due to our relationship with Fortress, clients receive a lifetime warranty on steel framing with Lakeside Decking.

Option 2

Fortress Steel Framing

Let's face it, most wood on the market isn't what it used to be, so we use the best option available today: KDAT, or Kiln-Dried After Treatment lumber. This type of framing is very sturdy, but you should still expect some splitting and warping with time, which is why we don't offer any material or craftsmanship warranties on wood framing.

Framing

Wood isn't the only player in the deck framing game anymore! At Lakeside Decking, our goal is to build decks that stand the test of time and last you a lifetime, so we've done our research to find vendors that offer the best framing products on the market. Each type offers different benefits and price points, and our Sales team will be happy to help guide you toward the best option for your project.

Advanced PVC is available in multiple widths, giving you more design options for your project. For example, alternating widths like you see here!

Multiple widths available

While all decking gets hot in the sun, Advanced PVC doesn't retain heat as much as its composite counterpart and ends up cooling off much faster.

Cooler than composite

TimberTech Advanced PVC has a 50 year fade and stain warranty, as well as a limited lifetime product warranty.

There are many engineered decking products on the market, but we haven't found anything that performs as well as TimberTech. From their extensive selection of colors and textures to their visual appearance and durability, we stand behind TimberTech as the best decking choice for our clients.

We install TimberTech decking with a hidden screw-and-plug system that vanishes from view and provides an incredibly secure hold.

Invisible Fasteners

TimberTech is committed to sustainability, and their Composite and Advanced PVC decking is made with varying amounts of recycled content.

Made with Recycled Materials

TimberTech Composite decking has a 25-30 year fade and stain warranty depending on the color. It won't warp, rot, or splinter either!

Cable infill is a more modern alternative to picket infill, and can be installed either vertically (less common) or horizontally (more common, and seen here). The cables are stainless steel in color and practically disappear from view, leaving you with a better outdoor experience.

Picket infill refers to the vertical bars in the railing. Picket is the classic solution, and is what a "traditional" deck railing looks like. It comes in a variety of colors to match the rest of your railing, but you can also choose a contrasting color for added interest!

Aluminum railing is well-suited for all of Minnesota's weather extremes, and is resistant to rust, rot, and warping. It's a long-lasting and smart choice for your deck, and the fact that it comes in a variety of colors and multiple profiles means that it can easily coordinate with your home's exterior and the overall project.
