This project included two decks: one off the primary bedroom on the main house, and the other surrounding the boathouse on the lakeshore. In order to tie everything together, the homeowner opted to use the same decking and railing on both decks for consistency. Based on their home’s existing exterior, TimberTech Advanced PVC in the color French White Oak from the Landmark Collection along with Westbury Aluminum Railing in the color White made the most sense. For a bit of personalization, our client opted for 2″ railing posts with a heartier 6″ post on the outside corners.
Another notable feature of this project is the frame of the boathouse deck, which is an engineered composite from Owens Corning. Since this deck is right on the water, an alternative frame (rather than a wood frame) was the perfect choice to avoid any rot down the line.
